Companies

Any app can count steps. A place you experience only once.

Activity programmes rarely fail at the start and almost always in week three. LaceUp puts the challenge on real trails around your sites. That way there’s a reason to go, a picture afterwards and a story in the team.

Starting point

Why most company challenges fizzle out

Not because people don’t feel like it. Because nothing happens when they take part.

Arbitrariness

A step count is not an experience

10'000 steps look the same in Zurich as in Zug. There’s nothing to tell, nothing to photograph and no reason to report it to anyone. After two weeks the novelty is gone.

Drop-off

Participation collapses once the lead is settled

Whoever is far behind after ten days stops. A collection format with levels works differently: every new point is a success of its own, independent of the leaderboard.

No content

Employer branding without material

At the end there’s an Excel report. There’s no picture of the team at a viewpoint, no post, nothing for the careers page. Yet exactly that was half the reason for the budget.

A checkpoint is a place where someone actually stood. That gets passed on — a step count doesn’t.

Formats

What this looks like in companies

We place the points where your people already are — or where you’d like them to be.

Site

The surroundings trophy

Ten to twenty points around your sites: viewpoints, lake loops, local hills, after-work rounds. Reachable on foot, by bike or jogging, at different difficulty levels.

Team

Department versus department

Scoring is per team, not per person. That brings in the less sporty people too, because every point counts for the group. Across sites this works especially well.

Extension

Keep going after Bike to Work

Many companies have one campaign in spring and nothing after. A trophy connects seamlessly and carries the momentum along instead of letting it fade out in June.

External

Customers, partners and suppliers

The same format can be opened to external audiences. A shared occasion with customers that runs for months and yields more than an apéro.

Benefits

What you get out of it

Participation that doesn’t tip after two weeks

Levels, badges and interim goals keep providing new moments of success. Even late joiners can still take part meaningfully.

Local relevance instead of arbitrariness

The challenge makes the surroundings of your offices visible. That works for newcomers who don’t know the region yet — and for everyone who drives past it every day.

Material for employer branding

Images, quotes, leaderboards and moments over months. Enough for the intranet, LinkedIn and the careers page — without anyone organising an extra photo day.

Not a hardware project

Nothing to procure, nothing to hand out, nothing to take back. Anyone with a sports watch connects it. Everyone else checks in without an app, in the browser.

Process

From first conversation to launch

Four steps. Most of the work sits with us.

  1. 1

    A short briefing

You send us what there is: sites, routes, target group, time frame. Twenty minutes are enough to start.

  2. 2

    Concept and quote

We propose format, checkpoints, levels and communication, with a quote that lists every position separately.

  3. 3

    Setup

Set the zones, apply your design, configure sign-up and the email journey, test. The work sits with us.

  4. 4

    Season and evaluation

You communicate, we operate and support. At the end of the season comes the evaluation the next edition is built on.

Questions

What we get asked most often

Do employees have to disclose their data?

Participation is voluntary and the activity data belongs to the employees. Within the challenge you see results and progress, not the private training diary. What exactly is visible, we define together beforehand.

What about people who aren’t sporty?

That’s why we work with tiered points and team scoring. A walk to the viewpoint counts as a checkpoint just like a mountain tour — only with a different score.

How much effort is it for HR?

We deliver the format including points, copy and the email journey. HR essentially needs a kick-off occasion and a channel to announce it.

Does it work internationally too?

Yes. No on-site infrastructure is needed — the checkpoints are zones on the map. Sites in several countries can be run in one shared ranking.

Investment

What it costs

For companies with several sites we price the format as a whole, not per site.
