The Tour d'Uetli is a multi-stage trail-running format around Zurich's local mountain, the Uetliberg. Over several weeks, new stages are released that participants can run flexibly – whenever and as often as they like. The best time counts for the ranking.

Who is the audience?

  • Running and trail fans who want to be active outside classic races
  • People who prefer to run flexibly and on their own terms
  • Participants who find motivation in comparison, rankings and gamification

Flow & mechanics

  • The tour starts in spring; a new stage is published every week.
  • Each stage can be run as often as you like within two weeks.
  • The fastest performance per stage flows into the overall ranking.
  • Timing runs through participants' own GPS devices (e.g. via Strava or Garmin) and is linked to the leaderboard automatically.

Special touches & motivation

  • More than pure speed: alongside the main ranking there are extra badges for special feats such as night stages or several stages in one day (the hat-trick).
  • A low entry barrier: no fixed start time, no mass start – everyone joins when it suits them.
  • Local roots & community factor: the routes cover familiar and new trails around the Uetliberg.
  • Transparency & automation: participants see their times, comparisons and rankings live – with no manual scoring.

Statistics & impact

  • The current edition (2025) counted over 460 registrations.
  • Participants spent a cumulative 500+ hours on the tour trails.
  • Compared to the previous year, participation grew by roughly 30%.

Why it is interesting for partners, sponsors & regions

  • High visibility in the trail-running community
  • Digital integration (ranking, badges, mailings) enables marketing activities
  • Engagement & loyalty: participants invest time, ambition and enthusiasm in the format
