Riders on the Swiss Cycling Top Tour Challenge

Every year, the Top Tour connects thousands of cycling enthusiasts with legendary routes – from the Albula pass to the Col de la Croix de Cœur to Lake Constance. But what happens between the physical events? That is exactly where the Top Tour Challenge comes in: the routes can be ridden all year round, and whoever reaches the official checkpoints collects digital badges and climbs the level system.

How it works:

  • Connect your Strava or Garmin account – activities are captured automatically
  • Ride the Top Tour routes and reach the official checkpoints – any time, in any order
  • Every checkpoint earns a digital badge and progress in the level system

From Starter to Legend:

  • Starter – first checkpoint reached
  • Rookie – several routes collected
  • Pro – most checkpoints ticked off
  • Legend – all 10 checkpoints collected

More than a digital add-on

The Top Tour Challenge does not replace the physical events – it extends their season. Whoever rides the checkpoints in advance knows the key sections. And knows themselves better. That builds motivation to sign up for new events.

For Swiss Cycling the platform offers one more decisive advantage: real participant data. Who takes part in which events? Which checkpoints are collected most often? This data belongs to Swiss Cycling – independent of Strava or Garmin. The federation gets to know its community better and can engage with it deliberately.

Cross-promotion between the events:

  • Participants of the Bodensee cycling marathon can be motivated directly for the Alpen Challenge Lenzerheide – and vice versa
  • One shared community emerges across all Top Tour events – instead of ten separate participant lists
