Charity and fundraising
The donation is one thing. The contact afterwards is the real result.
Virtual charity runs work. But the story, the presence and the donor data often end up with the platform, not with you. LaceUp turns that around: your brand is the sender, your organisation keeps the relationship.
Starting point
What costs impact today
The hard part of fundraising isn’t the occasion. It’s everything after it.
The donor relationship forms elsewhere
On a fundraising platform the donor registers with the platform, not with you. You get the amount, but rarely the consent to ask them again next year.
One occasion, one donation intake, done
A run on a Saturday creates a spike and then a flat curve. What’s missing is the occasion to tell the story again in autumn.
The cause disappears behind the mechanics
Progress bars and donation counters look the same everywhere. What the money is raised for gets lost in them. Yet exactly that is the reason anyone takes part.
Whoever collects for you tells your people about it. Every participant is a channel — if you give them something to tell.
Formats
Formats for charity runs and fundraising drives
The athletic effort is the occasion; the story is the reason.
Collecting for a good cause
Participants collect checkpoints, kilometres or vertical metres. For every goal reached, a defined amount flows — from sponsors, from their personal circle, or both.
Every participant collects on their own
Everyone taking part gets their own page in your presence and mobilises their circle. That multiplies the reach without additional advertising budget.
Company teams as donors
Companies register teams, pay per team and activate their employees at the same time. That connects corporate volunteering with your cause.
A distance with meaning
50 years, 50 summits. Or a total distance that matches the cause. The number itself becomes the story — and the counter everyone fills together.
Benefits
What you get out of it
Donor contacts with consent
Registration and communication run through your presence. You build a list that is available for the next campaign — instead of renting one anew every time.
Your cause front and centre
Website, emails, badges and leaderboards in your visual identity. No platform logo pulling the attention away.
Occasions to tell the story for months
Every milestone reached, every new checkpoint, every interim status is a reason for a post or an email. Automated and personalised.
Verifiable effort
GPS-verified activities instead of self-reporting. For sponsors paying per kilometre, that’s the difference between trust and proof.

Process
From first conversation to launch
Four steps. Most of the work sits with us.
-
1
A short briefing
You send us what there is: sites, routes, target group, time frame. Twenty minutes are enough to start.
-
2
Concept and quote
We propose format, checkpoints, levels and communication, with a quote that lists every position separately.
-
3
Setup
Set the zones, apply your design, configure sign-up and the email journey, test. The work sits with us.
-
4
Season and evaluation
You communicate, we operate and support. At the end of the season comes the evaluation the next edition is built on.
Questions
What we get asked most often
Does LaceUp process the donations?
No — deliberately not. We deliver the athletic mechanics, the verification and the communication. Donation processing runs through your existing system or a payment provider of your choice.
How do we make sure the effort is genuine?
Activities are imported and checked against the defined routes or checkpoints. The algorithms developed together with ETH Zurich detect manipulated or poor tracks.
Our audience isn’t sporty. Does it still work?
Yes. The points don’t have to sit on mountain summits. A path in the neighbourhood, a lake loop or a museum visit works as a checkpoint just as well — and the check-in works without an app too.
What does it cost us relative to the return?
The package prices are known and fixed, all per season. Whether it pays off depends on your reach. With a peer-to-peer approach the maths is simple: number of participants times average amount raised.
Investment
What it costs
For non-profit organisations we usually look for a solution where a sponsor covers the platform costs. Then the amount raised flows into your project undiminished.
- PilotCHF 5'000 per season
- SaisonCHF 9'200 per season
