LaceUp 2.0: collecting checkpoints without any sports app
No Strava. No Garmin. No problem. With LaceUp 2.0 we are launching a feature many organisers and participants have long been waiting for: the infrastructure-free check-in.

For a while now we have been hearing the same feedback: GPS-based event formats are exciting – but what about everyone who does not use a sports app? Whether e-bike rider, hiker without a Strava account or casual sports enthusiast: nobody should feel excluded from an experience just because they do not use a particular app.
So we rethought LaceUp – and made getting into our Trophy format as simple as possible.

Simple and inclusive by design – e.g. Tour de Suisse Explorer 2026
How the on-site check-in works
- Visit a checkpoint
Visit an official checkpoint on site – no Garmin or Strava needed. - Check in on site
Open the check-in link on your smartphone – no app required. - Collect
Confirm your location, secure the checkpoint – done.
All it takes is a smartphone. And practically everyone carries one today. No app installation needed.
The first integration is live
The Tour de Suisse Explorer leads the way: participants can now collect the stage locations of the Tour de Suisse entirely without Strava or Garmin – whether on a road bike or an e-bike. The Explorer shows impressively what becomes possible when tracking is no longer tied to a specific app.
"Infrastructure-free tracking does not mean giving up accuracy for us – it means putting no hurdle in anyone's way before the experience even begins."
Why this matters
Sport is for everyone. Not just for those who have already built a digital ecosystem of training apps. With the infrastructure-free check-in we make GPS-based challenges more accessible – for tourism organisations that want to excite guests without onboarding effort, and for events where inclusion should never be a compromise.
